More Than 2,000 Messages Sent to Legislators, Governor

State HouseBefore the 2016 legislative session began, Conservation Alabama alerted members and supporters to the continued threats to our state parks and public lands. The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources made it clear in their budget hearing that any further administrative transfers of money to the General Fund would be debilitating to the park system. Now, just one month into the legislative session, 2,434 messages have been sent to state legislators and Governor Bentley.

These messages have called for the protection of state parks’ funding, and for a “yes” vote on SB260/HB249, which would allow voters to go to the polls in November and approve a constitutional amendment prohibiting further administrative transfers. Both of those bills made it out of their respective committees last week, and we’ll continue to update you on their progress.

If you haven’t already, add your voice to the thousands who have sent a message to our elected officials to let them know just how important Alabama’s parks are to its people.
