At least 11 state legislators in mix to replace Everett

The Birmingham News reports today that U.S. Congressman Terry Everett will not seek another term as the representative from a district that links Montgomery to Dothan.

While Conservation Alabama doesn’t participate in federal elections, the ripple effect could reach Goat Hill. According to Doc’s Political Parlor, at least 11 state senators and representatives are mentioned as potential Republican or Democratic candidates. Should one win, then another special election will be called to replace the departing state legislator.

Stay tuned, as we may see another special election in 2009 somewhere in southeast Alabama.
